Dehradun or Dehra Dun is the capital city of Uttarakhand, a state in the northern part of India.

In November 2012, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Vijay Bahuguna, laid the foundation of the stadium. On 16 December 2016, Chief Minister Harish Rawat inaugurated the stadium along with Rajeev Shukla, Chairperson of IPL. The total cost of stadium was Rs. 237.20 Crore. The stadium is located in picturesque surroundings in the Raipur area of Dehradun and has a seating capacity of 25,000 people, along with flood lights facility for conducting day-night matches.

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in the Raipur area of Dehradun, Uttarakhand.[2] It is the first international standard stadium in the state and was constructed by Shapoorji Pallonji Engineering and Construction.

In May 2018, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) confirmed that Afghanistan would host Bangladesh in June 2018, was first international fixture at this stadium.
The cost of this stadium was 237 crore.
