 The State of Uttarakhand formerly known as Uttaranchal, is a state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as the Devbhumi.Uttarakhand was formed on 9th November 2000 as the 27th State of India. it is largely a hilly State, having international boundaries with China (Tibet) in the north and Nepal in the east. On its north-west lies Himachal Pradesh, while on the south is Uttar Pradesh. capital of Uttarakhand is Dehradun, the largest city of the state, which is a railhead.The natives of the state are generally called Uttarakhandi, or more specifically either Garhwali or Kumaoni by their region of origin.The local languages of Uttarakhand are Kumaoni and Garhwali, but everyone also speaks Hindi.
